XYZ Books was born in December 2020 during the Christmas holiday, in a moment when our five-year-old son was struggling to understand what Santa Claus looked like, and if Santa had brown skin, like his. This sparked the idea for our very first book, Santa Like Me, but ignited an even larger desire to start a publishing company that creates literature children of color can see themselves reflected in.  

Santa Like Me is a children's Christmas story that reimagines the traditional notion of Santa Claus. This holiday tale empowers every child to visualize a Santa that reflects who they are and who they want Santa to be. When children see themselves reflected in their favorite books, television shows, and music, it nurtures and affirms their sense of belonging and connectedness to the world around them. Santa Like Me gives all children the chance to see themselves in one of the most cherished figures of the season.
